Update May
I prepared a huuuuge update for you guys! There are so many new cool features! I’m so excited to introduce them to you!
Compact mode
In order to give you more work space, I made a special Compact mode view. It is experimental for now and may be improved according to your feedback.
You can turn it on using the zoom menu in the toolbar or Main menu / View / Compact.
It has no tabs visible, and the toolbar is docked to the bottom. Black toolbar works like a visual separator. It looks more lightweight now and the main work area will be more focused. Try to use it, and maybe you will never go back. Tabs are hidden in animation switcher close to main menu icon.
Btw, the main menu icon has Motion logo.
Layers list
The first update here is that you can hide the layers list now and get more timeline space! It will improve your work, especially if your screen is not very big. Just click on arrow to show/hide the layers list.
The second update here is that you can turn on the Select layers mode. So, when you select any layer in Motion layers list, it will be automatically selected on canvas.
Seconds / Frames
Do you want to work with frames not seconds? It is your choice for now. Use the dropdown menu on timeline header to switch the grid. Any other keyframes / paths / links / presets values will be shown in selected format.
Keep in mind, that due to mathematical calculations, converting from seconds to frames and back may sometimes give you a float results.
Time range
Time range or work area is a very important part of work. It was a little bit confusing before with some bugs.
Now, you can easily set its start, end position and reset with help of a dropdown menu or shortcuts B, N and Ctrl+Shift+X accordingly.
Double click to reset still works as before and without bugs.
Cut / Paste
Finally, cut is added. Cut everything and paste where you want.
More than that, pasting works now as it should work. It pasts copied and cut keyframes / paths / links / presets on the current timeline time position. It is so obvious behavior which didn’t exist before.
Performance
I made a lot of small performance improvements like faster opening and working with timeline.
For example, the Motion logo is shown on the start to give you a more clear look without any blinking. Timeline do not perform a lot of unnecessary bunch of code on every keyframes / paths / links / presets selection, dragging and copying.
