Working with presets in the Figma Motion plugin
Presets are very useful no matter you are a beginner or a professional.
First, let’s talk a little about what tool we will use. You can use presets animation, keyframes animation, paths animation or link animation for layer properties. We will work with paths.
Overview
With help of presets you can easily animate your scene. You don’t need to reinvent a bicycle. You just apply them and get the result. By the way, they are tunable.
Adding a preset
You can access presets throught Library. There are several groups of presets there. There are about 100 presets there.
You can search among them. Every preset has keywords. Feel free to type any description of preset you want to find, not only its name.
Select a layer you want to apply a preset, go to Library and select any of presets.
Properties
Each preset has some equations on its basics. So, it can adjust to your object position and sizes.
Every preset has its start time and duration. Every preset has different values to set according to its parameters. You can find several blocks with them to set. You can read it like From and To values. But sometimes presets may have more blocks with values. This case, you may set much more intermidiate steps.
Convert to keyframes
If you want to change preset in a more complex way, you can convert it to keyframes from the right button menu. After that you are free to change keyframes the way you want.
Conclusion
Presets may speed up your working process in times. Combine them with your current animations or make new based on presets only.
